When and how did you start?

Angela:

I’m from Linwood, NJ just 5 minutes from Atlantic City. Since middle school I always took interest in doing my make up, and making sure my hair always looked nice. My mom was a nail technician, so of course I had always been in her nail polish. Anything beauty related was just something I enjoyed doing, it made me feel good. By the time I started high school I had got a letter asking if I would like to enroll at (ACIT) Atlantic County Institute of Technology for my junior and senior of high school, as a share time student between ACIT and my home school Mainland Regional High School. One of the many classes was Cosmetology. I never thought of cosmetology being a career choice. I had wanted to be a veterinarian, so when my mom asked me if I wanted to take a tour of the school, I was weary, but with a open mind i said sure! After checking the school out, I fell in love! I thought- this is exactly what I want. After earning enough school hours I had my permit so I was ready to work in my first salon. I took a job in Northfield I learned so much, and had worked there for the next 3 years, boosting my confidence and experience, yet this was just the beginning. My time at both schools was great. Then after 2 years in 2009 I graduated Mainland and ACIT with my license in Cosmetology, along with being awarded “Best all around Cosmetologist”. I felt so motivated and driven after that I had checked out many magazines, photos and TV with artists and celebrities that had amazing hair and beautiful photos. I decided I want to be someone who creates work like that! The creativity and limitless possibilities always inspired me. By fall of 2010 i was lucky to have the experience to help out with New Jersey Fashion Week. It felt like a great accomplishment for me. That fall I also got to assist in a few other shows in Philly.

SC:

What’s your vision creatively?

Angela:

I love working with color, to use color makes hairstyles limitless, I could create any look with a bit of color and some hair. I’m a artist and I wish every client would be open minded to suggestions about color, cuts, or styles. Hair is beautiful, it grows. Its like having a empty canvas every visit. As long as i have my hands then my art has no limit.

SC:

What are your interests and goals?

Angela:

I take interest in every part of the cosmetology field from cutting to hair extension’s. I really love writing poems and short stories also I like creating headbands. I just enjoy arts. I have many goals. I want to at least try things once. I would love to attend/work at New York Fashion Week. One day do work for the cover of Seventeen Magazine. Also do hair for a daytime talk show, that way I can look back and say I never held back. Each day I grow once step closer to achieving my dreams, as long as I can invision my success in my mind, It will happen.

SC:

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Angela:

In 10 years I see myself having my own busy successful salon, working after hours to do photo shoots or work other events. In 10 years I hope people will be inspired by me and look up to me like I do others. So I could help them out to further their career, as others have for me.

SC:

Who inspires you?

Angela:

Tabatha Coffey definitely inspires me, I love her tough attitude to push artist to become better.I can see that her passion is in her. I would love to be taught by her one day. Also Life Coach Jason Hollis has inspired me with his positive attitude. Jason keeps in touch with me every now and then. Every time I hear from him his energy keeps me boosted to keep going. I really appreciate him keeping me motivated.

SC:

What is your dream project?

Angela:

My dream project is to just work hard and train hard to become very successful in what I do, some people are just “doing” hair. I put my whole life into my work I always will give 150%. I continue to learn everyday “Always a student, never a master”. I want to have my own product line and huge portfolio of great accomplishments. If people could just remember me for my great work, passion and drive. Then that is all I ever ask for. I can’t wait to look back and be so proud of how hard I worked, but for now I’m enjoying my climb.
