Vincent Porpiglia & Dr. Shireen Fernandez

Vincent Porpiglia, a Florida International University business student is a young and extremely handsome man. His easy going style and look is very sophisticated and as soon as I met him, I could tell this is a special person. His story is quite remarkable and one that we will all be hearing much more about in the years to come.

A few years ago, while suffering another sleepless night,he thought to himself “there are lots of drinks to give you energy so what about ones to make you sleep?” Therefore he thought of the name ‘Dream Water’.

After some research he found out that noone had used that name. He then looked into how to make a product like this, what would be in the product and ways to bring it to the market. He went to a lab to find out a formula for his idea . He found his ingredients and then went on to figuring the shelf life of this product.

After getting enough funds, Vincent trademarked his idea and ended up winning a National Competition which he entered soon after for his formula. This gave him another financial boost but the road ahead was so difficult that he tried countless people before he finally found someone who believed in his idea.

The Vincent team all with ties to Miami now include David Lekach, 31; brother Joseph Lekach, 25; and family friend Adam Platzner, 31.

They then launched two flavors in a 2.5 oz ‘Dreamshot’. One called Snooze berry has blueberry and pomegranate, the other called Lullaby lemon with hints of tea. The key ingredients in these bottles are Melatonin which is an all natural sleep ingredient, GABA (gama amino buteric acid) which helps to calm and relax and 5htp melatonin, which has been proven to be useful for insomnia and jet lag in doses between 0.3 mg to 3.0 mg. GABA and 5-HTP are neurotransmitters. GABA has a calming effect and is used to relieve anxiety. 5-HTP has been used for treating sleep disorders and depression.

The growth of dreamwater has been meteoric since it hit the market in 2009 at Duane Reade, a New York pharmacy chain. It has been at a third of all Wal-Mart stores since September 2010, and at all Walgreens stores since November 2010. Most recently, the airport retail group Paradies began selling it at its 300 stores, including Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, bringing the product to a total of 10,000 stores nationwide. It is now available in other countries such as Canada and Mexico with Australia soon to follow. 20000 outlets is the next target for Vincent along with Hotels and supermarkets.

Research from The National Institute of Health shows that as many as 70 million, or one-third of Americans, may be affected by chronic sleep loss or sleep disorders, at an annual cost of $16 billion in health care expenses and $50 billion in lost productivity.

Vincent has sacrificed everything to make his dreamwater become a reality. His mentality was to never give up and he never stopped believing that his idea was viable product. His dream is now being drunk by a million people who are all finally able to sleep and wake up with no side effects.

Vincent isn’t in this journey to Make a quick dollar . He wants to continue growing the business and helping people. “We work very hard, Vincent said,” so other people can sleep”. Of course we couldn’t leave the interview without asking him if there was time for romance. He sadly said “No” but his door is open to finding someone that is smart , honest and can be a good friend.

Good luck Vincent and we look forward to following your journey. Oh and yes, Dreamwater does work and I slept like a baby when I tried it!

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
